Unlock Your Creativity: Monthly Writing Groups and Poetry Club in East Austin

At the East Austin Writing Project, we believe that great writing grows in community. Our monthly writing groups, poetry club, and creative writing workshops bring together writers of all backgrounds and experience levels to share work, sharpen skills, and celebrate the power of storytelling.

Whether you’re drafting your first poem, revising a novel, or experimenting with new forms, you’ll find a welcoming space here to connect, learn, and grow.

Our offerings include:

  • Creative Writing Workshops & Critique Groups – From intimate circles focused on peer feedback to collaborative spaces designed to spark new ideas.

  • Poetry Club & Book Discussions – Generative gatherings that inspire fresh language and deep conversation.

  • Literary Readings & Community Events – Partnering with artists, galleries, and collectives across East Austin to amplify diverse voices and celebrate the arts.

For writers looking to take their craft further, we also offer Advanced Writing Groups such as Craft Intensives and Critique II. These sessions are dedicated to writers who are serious about revision, structure, and preparing work for publication.

How it works: To join an advanced group, simply submit a short writing sample. Submissions are reviewed with care, and acceptance notifications are emailed within three weeks. Once accepted, you’re part of the community—no need to reapply.

At every level, the East Austin Writing Project is here to help you unlock your creativity, strengthen your voice, and find your place in Austin’s vibrant literary community.
